The Central Govt had admitted this systems as a centrally sponsored scheme during this time and had sanctioned financial assistance.
An independent directorate exclusively for the VHSE has been started in 1985. It situates at the Thiruvananthapauram. There are 7 Regional Offices of VHSE having jurisdiction of 2 revenue districts each,and they help in efficient administration and control of VHS Schools.
VHS Courses are being conducted in the Existing High Schools both in Government and Private (Aided) Sector . The Head of the Schools is redesignated as the Principal of VHS section for administrative convenience.
At present the total number of VHS Schools in our state is 389, out of which 248 are in Government sector and the rest 127 in the Private (Aided) sector. There are 45 VHS courses under different disciplines.
These courses were distributed to these 375 schools as 1000 sections. Each section is having an intake capacity of 33 students each year. The total intake capacity is 33,000 students every year.
The scheme of studies and curriculum of VHS courses have been framed in tune with the national pattern
